Meet Bonnie, an adorable chihuahua mix who became a proud mama to two precious puppies in late 2024. After her little ones were weaned, Bonnie found herself in a loving foster home, learning to adjust. Bonnie's foster family includes two kids (ages 12 and 14), two playful dogs (a Shih tzu and a Russell mix), and four cats. At first, Bonnie is a shy and takes her time warming up to new faces. She's not one to jump into cuddles right away, preferring to carefully assess whether someone feels safe to her. When it comes to people, Bonnie is wonderfully loyal once she decides you're trustworthy. She started by connecting with the male adult in her foster home, and within a few hours, she was following him everywhere. Soon after, she became just as attached to the female adult and is very slowly warming up to the kids. She has some separation anxiety when her humans leave the house. Bonnie gets along with both the dogs and cats, showing zero reactivity towards the feline family members. She does get a bit nervous when the male dog shows energy and she will let him know. After a couple of weeks, she’s enjoying being part of the pack, at times from a distance but enjoying following the canines around. One thing to know about Bonnie - she's not a fan of the cold. When temperatures dip below 50 degrees, she's hesitant to spend time outdoors and will use a potty pad indoors. On warmer days, she loves exploring her foster home's fenced backyard, gradually becoming more adventurous. Bonnie does well walking on a leash once she feels comfortable with her walking buddy. She's timid around strangers and unfamiliar animals, but with patience and gentle encouragement, she blossoms. She has a strong preference to sleep near her human companions. The perfect home for Bonnie would be one that understands her need to feel safe and secure. She thrives with calm, low-energy companions who give her time to adjust and show her love and confidence. With patience, Bonnie will become the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for.
